Thank you to everyone who gave their input on what we should call the therapeutic yoga classes on Tuesday nights. We decided to go with "Transformative Tuesdays". Here is an more updated description of the classes that will begin on Jan 2nd. Classes will continue to be from 6-7:30pm and held at Yoga is Therapy.
1st Tuesday – Yoga Nidra with Restorative
Yoga Nidra is a powerful meditation technique of learning to relax consciously. It allows for the release of old belief systems and creates new neural pathways, working within the subconscious mind to create a joy filled life. Restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing for deep cellular healing and rejuvenation of the body. This class includes an extended yoga nidra practice with journaling and a couple of restorative poses.
2nd Tuesday – Restorative with Yoga Nidra
Restorative Yoga is an antidote for chronic stress as it allows the body to release deeply held tension. It soothes the nervous system, supports immune function, lengthens the breath, and increases vitality. In restorative yoga, students guided into supportive poses for 8-12 mins. Yoga Nidra is a meditative process that promotes a sense of wholeness as students are guided through all levels of consciousness. This class includes restorative yoga poses with a short yoga nidra practice.
3rd Tuesday – Peaceful Pelvis
The pelvic floor is the foundation of our body that contributes to all movement. When our pelvic floor is off balance, then everything above it can be off balance too. It is an often misunderstood and underappreciate part of the body, unless one experienced any kind of pelvic floor dysfunction. This class focuses on bringing awareness, stretching, and relaxation to the pelvic floor and supporting muscles. This class includes meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, gentle movement, and restorative poses. This class is appropriate for anyone experiencing pelvic pain or a hypertonic pelvic concerns or simply wants to learn to connect to the root of their body
4th Tuesday – Peaceful (Powerful) Pelvis
A pelvic floor is ideally flexible, supple, and strong. It needs to be able to both fully relax and contract. This pelvic class includes awareness, stretching, stabilization, and strengthening of the pelvic floor and muscles that support the pelvis. This class is appropriate for anyone with hypotonic pelvic floor concerns, pelvic bowl instability or wants to mindfully strengthen the pelvic floor
